Bike Rodeo

This year Bobbi-Jo McGlynn and Shauna Baker from the Kaslo office had the pleasure of using our Road Safety Broker allotment to host two bike rodeos for our local elementary schools. The first rodeo took place at Jewitt Elementary School in Meadow Creek on May 26, 2006. This was the first year we ventured “up the lake” for a rodeo, and we had a great time with the 26 students that participated. They were very enthusiastic, and had a great time showing off their skills while they learned about bike and helmet safety.

We were fortunate enough to have one of our local RCMP officers eagerly helping to set up the bike courses, and to help hand out prizes donated by various businesses in our area.

Our local bike wizard was there as well, checking all the bikes for safety and making minor adjustments for the kids.

The second Rodeo was held on June 6, 2006 at J.V. Humphries School here in Kaslo. This was the fifth year that we hosted the rodeo at J.V.H. School. It was amazing to see the improvement of skill and control the students had gained since the last rodeo. They also had their bikes and helmets checked for safety. It was great to see the fun they were having riding through the courses, and not one student was without a helmet!

The grand prize for each school was a new bike, and second prize was a new helmet.

We felt proud to be a part of a company like Falkins Insurance, which invests in the safety of our communities and shows that they care.
