"Falkins went above and beyond the call of duty"
We keep most of our valuables in our home, close to us. But, of
course, sometimes some of our most costly possessions are housed in
a shed, garage or workshop separate from our home. So when fire
strikes and we see thousands of dollars' worth of equipment and
building materials go up in flames, it can be traumatic.
Ken Hunter from Golden knows what that's like. On October 8,
2007, Ken watched as one of the outbuildings on his
property-containing his snowmobiles, ATVs, tools, tires, cedar and
woodworking supplies-went up in flames.
It was a rough time, admits Ken. But Falkins had him covered in
more ways than one. ICBC took care of the snowmobiles and quads,
and Falkins took care of the rest. Within the week, the paperwork
was well in progress and Ken didn't have to worry about a
thing.
"Falkins got on things right away," said Ken. "They were very
understanding and I felt relaxed around them. They made me feel
that they were working for me."
It took only three months from the day of the fire for the claim
to be settled completely so that the shed could be rebuilt and lost
materials replaced.
Ken feels that the company went above and beyond the call of
duty by alerting him to ways to protect himself in the future as
well. They offered him suggestions about specific farm equipment
that would not have been covered had it been in the shed.
"That had never been explained by anyone before," said Ken, "and
they set me on the clue that if something ever happened down the
road again, I would have coverage. I didn't feel like everyone in
this business made a habit out of doing that.
